This past year has been unprecedented, with bushfires, drought and COVID-19 making things more difficult for many people in small businesses. The ATO says it wants to help businesses get back on their feet and that small businesses have always been the backbone of our economy. They make up more than 99% of all Australian businesses, contribute more than $413 billion to the economy and employ more than 5.5 million people. These challenging times mean a lot of people and businesses are finding things tough. This has been reflected in the interest around the government’s COVID-19 measures, such as JobKeeper and early access to superannuation.
