NANA to conduct survey on family and domestic violence leave

NANA is a participant in the Fair Wok Commission’s review of Family and Domestic Violence Leave (FDVL) including the standard provisions to unpaid leave being made available to qualifying employees.
FDVL is a vexed issue for all industry sectors. NANA does not believe that employers should be responsible for paying for FDVL and the issue is a social ill and if there is to be financial support available to employees, that support should come from Government. An alternative is to allow an employee who may be the victim of Family and Domestic Violence to take paid leave from other accrued entitlements such as annual and personal and carer’s leave.
In order to obtain an accurate view of the known incidence of FDVL and the impacts on Newsagents, in conjunction with the Fair Work Commission, NANA will be conducting a survey of a valid sample of Members to gauge their experience and the extent of the problem in small and family businesses. The survey information will be anonymous and only the raw data will be provided to the Fair Work Commission. Participation in the survey will be voluntary.
NANA expects to commence the survey within a month. NANA will contact Members seeking their participation. Any Member who wishes to discuss this or any employment related matter is invited to contact NANA on 1300 113 044 or by email to nana@nana.com.au.
