With the support of Members in regional areas, NANA is challenging News Corp Australia and its subsidiaries over the issue of the application of freight charges to the sale of out of area titles. The problem is at its most extreme where Newsagents are forced to charge freight in addition to the cover price of the title, yet large supermarkets such as Woolworths don’t. Newsagents are at a price disadvantage, and the agreement between the publisher and Newsagents is unfair as Newsagents do not have a choice when it comes to charging freight.
